Updating the IM-4006 is easy since your old speakers will work with the new IM-4406 system. You will need to change out the old rough to the new IR-105. The new IR-105 is 2" taller than the old rough-in. The old version of the IM-4006 had a flat ribbon wire that it used. This does work with the IM-4406 as long as the station runs are not excessively long. There is a wiring conversion sheet for these older systems. So you will simply disconnect the old transformer, and connect the 2 new transformers. After that it is just a matter of connecting the existing station wire to the new terminal board. If you are looking for a little more power and a CD player, you can upgrade to the DMC3-4. With the DMC3-4, you would be required to upgrade your room speakers.
